The event was a rousing success- great food, great company and lots of laughs!!! Thank you to all of the families, friends and staff that attended as well- it was great to see the community support!

This past week was full of excitement as CMAS 2019 kicked off Monday. Throughout the week, students took pride in completing their "job" to the best of their ability whether it was taking assessments or supporting those that were. Thank you for making sure that students were present and on time for testing! CMAS continues this week for all students in grades 3-7.

Last week GVA-DC hosted several in-building field trips including, "No Fear of Science" presented by by Joachim (Jo) Hecker (select classes ion grades K-5), Community Helpers (K) and Festinema Junior 2019 (French Village.) See below for more information!

On Tuesday, April 9th, Joachim (Jo) Hecker brought his show "No Fear of Science" to Global Village Academy- Douglas County! Students learned the answers to many burning questions including- How does a human electric circuit work? What happens in our head when we eat something crunchy and How can you produce real artificial snow in no time? Each teacher received a bag of "snow" for their classroom for further investigation!!

This month, Kindergarten student have been learning about "Community Helpers" during social studies. Social Studies Academic Standards for kindergarten include: knowing how people work to meet wants and needs, and how people's work contributes to the community around them. To bring this standard to life, teachers invited "Community Helpers" , including a librarian and a firefighter, to visit kindergarten classrooms. Students enjoyed learning about what each of these professions do and how they help out in the Parker community.

Finally, Spring in Colorado bring unpredictable and ever-changing weather! Please be sure to dress your students for the weather remembering that we will be eating outside most days and enjoying outdoor recess as often as possible!!!

Thank you for partnering with us in the education of your child(ren)!

Warmly,
