Welcome to Middle School Math and Science!

My name is Mrs. Sabrina Manskey, and I am thrilled to welcome your student to my Math and Science class this year. I am so excited to join the GVA-DC team and guide our students to succeed in an academically rigorous environment. I have high expectations of what my students will achieve, but in my experience, they will rise to the occasion and flourish. It is my goal to inspire and foster a love of learning, inquiry, and research in my students in Math and Science. Please feel free to reach out to me via email at any time.

Science

We have adopted an exciting new curriculum this year called Amplify. It challenges students to think like real scientists and solve real world problems using evidence, inquiry, digital apps, hands on experiments and models. Amplify is aligned with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and also the Colorado State Standards. It is also integrated with Math and ELA Standards as well. I can’t wait to share this with my students.

Math

We also have a new curriculum for Math this year called Pearson CMP3. It is an inquiry based model for learning mathematics that focuses on problem solving and connecting mathematical concepts to the student’s everyday life. Our objective is to have all students take Pre-Algebra in 7th grade and Algebra I in 8th grade. I am so excited to prepare them for academic success in Math.

A Little About Me

I am a Texas native, and have only lived in Parker, CO for 1.5 years. I have four years of teaching experience, three of which were high school Physics and Integrated Physics and Chemistry. My fourth year of teaching was in Special Education at the elementary and middle school levels. I have a B.S. degree in Applied Meteorology from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. Science and Math are my two absolute favorite subjects. I enjoy playing the guitar and other musical instruments, playing soccer, and exploring nature in the great outdoors. I also love to travel and work on learning other languages. I lived in Japan for three years from 2009-2012, which was a wonderful life experience.
