About Nicole Wetzel
Nicole Wetzel, born into a family of civil rights activists and educators, followed in the footsteps of her grandfather, Elvin R. Caldwell in 2006 when she began her educational career in Denver Public Schools. Her passion for giving back to the community she was raised in still drives her work to this day. A desire to see the world and explore international education systems took her to South Korea in 2009, where she worked for the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education as an English as a Second Language teacher in Seoul Public Schools. This same passion for international education brought her to Global Village Academy as a teacher in 2011. Since then, she has served in many capacities, including Dean of Students, Principal, Head of School, and now Chief of Staff.
Nicole currently serves as Vice Chair of the Colorado League of Charter Schools Board, where she advocates for maintaining fair and just charter school law within the state of Colorado. She strongly believes in public school choice for parents and educational autonomy for schools and teachers.
In her spare time, she enjoys skiing with her husband in winter and gardening in summer.
