About Me

I'm originally from eastern Iowa, but I moved to Colorado in 2008 to experience a more mountainous terrain. I have bachelor degrees in Art and Art Education from the University of Northern Iowa. I've taught a variety of grade levels and subjects throughout the past 12 years, and I'm very excited to be teaching kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade art at Global Village Academy. I'm proud to be part of the GVA community and its emphasis on language immersion is what drew me to this school. Through my schooling I was fortunate to learn the basics of a handful of languages (Spanish, French, Russian) but I never learned any well enough to consider myself fluent. I know our students will have a better experience!

In addition to my own art making, I love spending my free time outdoors. I recently adopted a sweet chihuahua named Albie that I'm sure my students will hear about during the coming months. I enjoy experiencing everything Colorado has to offer whether it's hikes in the mountains, baseball games, or falling while I (attempt to) snowboard. I practice yoga pretty regularly during the fall and winter months. In the past few years I've begun biking more in the summers and springs. In fact I've been spending my summers training for an event in Iowa called RAGBRAI.
