About Me

Hello, my name is Martha Salazar. I was born and raised in Mexico City. I have a BS in Electronic Engineering. We moved to the US 14 years ago to the San Francisco Bay Area. I’m a mother of two lovely children, David and Gabriel. I have been teaching for more than 13 years. I worked in high school teaching Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry and Calculus. In San Francisco, I worked in a vocational school teaching adults math, computer and office skills.

After I had my first child, I started working as Community Liaison Coordinator in conjunction with the City of Mountain View at Sunnyvale in California. I had preschool groups with "First 5", and trained parents on topic like “Positive Discipline”, “Early Literacy”, “Temperament” among others. While working with "First 5" I gained a lot of experience working with kids with disabilities and services in the community. We then moved to Sonoma County. I started working in the Special Education Department at Cali Calmecac Language Academy, that is a dual immersion school in Windsor, CA.

My husband got transferred from his job to Colorado Springs last year. We joined the GVA family to continue the dual language education with our kids. I also started working as a substitute teacher and love the friendly environment of everyone in the school. This year I will be working as a math interventionist, looking forward to this new challenge.
