My name is Matthew Link, and I will be your student’s Humanities teacher this year at GVA.
To share a little about myself, I grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. I graduated from Edinboro University with a BS in Middle Level Education, with concentrations in English/Language Arts, Reading, and Writing with an ESL focus. I earned a Minor in Special Education, with language studies in Spanish.
I competed in Cross Country and Track & Field at Edinboro, earning All-American Honors in Cross Country, as well as national-qualifying marks at 10,000m and 5000m.
I am a HUGE Cleveland Indians and Cavaliers fan, along with the Chicago Blackhawks. I love music, reading, and being outside. I’m an avid camper, backpacker, and fly fisherman.
My teaching strategies revolve around a student-led classroom community. I want my students to feel in control of their learning, and take responsibility and accountability for their success.
My primary focus in the classroom is creating a community-based classroom in which all students can learn and grow, no matter their ability level or needs. As a peer, I expect my student to come to class each day with the goal of building their fellow classmates and supporting this classroom community.
