Dear Parents,
Welcome back to school!!! I am very excited about the upcoming school year. I can’t wait to
work with you and your children. Please read the information below.
Homework
Help your child develop home study skills by setting aside a time each night to do
homework. Reinforce the idea that daily homework is an important part of their job
as a student. As part of our school-wide positive behavior program, please help your
child to be responsible by completing and returning all homework on time. (All
homework is due each Wednesday and be given new HW same day along with the
weekly newsletter).
Homework Packets
- Each night, your child is expected to read for 10 minutes. Children who
practice with their parents become better readers.
- In addition, have your student complete the homework packet, one sheet per day. The homework packet is due every Wednesday. We are going to have a blog for posting homework and establish communication with you later we will inform the online address to which should be addressed.
Friday/Communication Folder
They will have special folder every Friday for school and teacher communication.
This folder must be due on the following Monday.
- Email is the main source of communication. I will check my email daily so if
you want to get ahold of me or message me this is the easiest way. Please feel free to
call, email, or drop a note at any time. I look forward to meeting and talking
with each of you.
Behavior
- This year, our school is continuing our school wide behavior system. It
encourages students to be respectful, be responsible, and be ready to learn.
Please reinforce with your children that consequence come as a result of the
choice they make. Thus, consequences can be positive or negative. We are
striving to have many more positive consequences than negative. Within my
classroom I pass out puma cards and pick students to receive puma card
prizes. If there is a behavior issue within my classroom I will email you and also you are going to see in Class Chart, what is happening every day with your child. I will going to send you an e-mail invitation so you can sign in.
Snack
- Children will have extra 15-20 min of extra recess every day. They will be
able to have snack at that time. Please bring healthy snacks every day.
Absences and Tardies
- School starts promptly at 8:00 am. Anytime your child is tardy, he or she
misses critical instruction. Please help your child start the day by Being
Ready to Learn. If your child needs to be absent, please notify the front
office. Any work your child misses can be picked up when they return.
Parent Expectations
- Read at home to and with your child for a minimum of 15 minutes each day. The
number one factor for student success in school is the amount of time parents
spend reading with children.
- Celebrate all successes, big or small. Focus on the positive!
- Encourage joy and excitement for learning all year. Children pick up on the
feelings and beliefs of parents. Be positive!
- Support classroom activities, philosophy, and curriculum.
- Please contact me with any issues, big or small so we can fix them!
The students are expected to do their homework in no more than 20 min
per day, 10 reading and 10 doing a sheet.
The homework will be the sheet works that will be send in the communication
folder every Wednesday. If there is something else to do, you will find the
specifications the our new site. It is very important to have your support at home
and do extra activities if it is possible since your child is learning all the
concepts in a non-native language. The practice and dedication is shown in
your child’s progress.
In order to accurate a new language it is very important to be
constantly exposed to the language as much as possible. Thereby I am inviting
you to have a Spanish reading time.
A strong reading and writing foundation is not only created in the
classroom but also at home. I value parent involvement at every level and
believe that a strong parent/teacher team can give a child the most powerful
and joyous learning experience possible.
I have provided a list of ideas to do at home to encourage improved reading
and writing:
- Surround your child with reading materials. Take your child to the
library to pick out books to take home and read regularly.
- Have family reading time. It can be as simple as 10 minutes a day but
seeing you read will inspire your child to read. Encourage them to read
out loud to you, family, pets, stuffed animals, into a recorder, or
anything you may think of.
- Show enthusiasm for your child's reading and writing. Your reaction to
their efforts will have a great influence on how hard they work to
become better readers and writers.
Thank you again for your continued dedication to your child's success and as
always feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. I know with a
strong parent/teacher team your student will become an excellent learner
with a passion for reading and writing.
Thanks for sharing the magic of your children with me =)
Sincerely,
Mrs. Brendaly Rodríguez
