Make a Difference at GVA Dougas County

The Board of Directors plays a significant role in the success of GVA and GVCC. While the Board delegates the day-to-day operation to the Administrator, the role of governance is discharged in a variety of important ways. The Board of Directors demonstrates strong leadership by promoting the school’s mission, doing strategic planning, being knowledgeable about legislative issues, developing policies, participating in professional development, insuring that the school has adequate financial resources, overseeing and supporting the administrator, monitoring academic performance, organizing effective committees, and establishing a network of relationships in the community.

  • The Board of Directors is comprised of five members elected to one or two year terms, with four officers: President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer. For a complete overview of the role and responsibilities of a Board member please see the document, For Prospective GVCC GVA Board Members. If you are interested in being considered for a position on the Board of Directors, please complete this form and give it to your school Principal. Please note that the volunteer commitment for service on the Board of Directors will involve attending a monthly meeting, some additional meetings as determined by the Board, as well as work outside of meeting times, possibly serving on a committee, and participating in professional development and training.
