From the Board of Directors

Dr. Rebecca Frazier loves to be with students and teachers as they learn, teach, coach, and lead positive change together. Her background includes many years as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, trainer of instructional coaches, and leader of coaching programs in Colorado Springs School District 11. She is currently working with Corwin Press to publish a book about the joy that can be found when both the hearts and minds of those we serve are considered as we teach, coach, and lead. Dr. Frazier and the teams she’s led have created happy and productive learning environments for both students and teachers leading to statistically significant increases in student achievement and teacher job satisfaction. Rebecca’s current favorite quote is, “Bring Joy!” She is excited to begin working with the wonderful GVA students, staff, and parent community.

Thanks to all of you that were involved in the hiring process, especially our hiring committee. I appreciate the time and effort you put into this important process.

We would also like to announce that Dr. Barbara Rutter, our current Special Education Teacher, who was initially hired to teach in our German Program will be our new Assistant Principal. Barbara moved to Colorado from Germany in 2011. Her educational background is in psychology and she holds a PhD in cognitive neuroscience. She has been working in special education for more than four years and has focused some of her time in this field on behavior modification. Being familiar with language immersion, she is excited to take on a new role at GVA and to support and promote its mission.

Please join me in welcoming Dr. Rebecca Frazier to Global Village Academy!
