From the Principal

THANK YOU
Thank you for the generous support of our Halloween Happenings!! From the “Parade of Costumes” to the classroom parties to the candy for the GVA-DC Trick-or-Treat on Mainstreet booth, your donations of time and treats made this Halloween one to remember!

A special thank you to Hayden and Laurian Horowitz for setting-up, tearing-down and handing out candy at the GVA-DC Trick-or-Treat on Mainstreet booth!

VOTING
We would like to thank all of our families who have already exercised their right to vote. If you have not yet voted, please be sure to drop off your ballot ASAP -- please do not mail it in as it will not make it on time to be counted (postmarks are not honored). You can also vote in person if you prefer. A list of ballot drop off locations and Voter Service and Polling Centers can be found at www.DouglasVotes.com

If you have not registered to vote, that’s okay. You can register and vote at one of the Voter Service and Polling Centers mentioned above. All of the information you need to cast your vote can be found at www.DouglasVotes.com

So far, voter turnout is low amongst our parents who have children in Douglas County Schools. The voice of our parents is critical to our great community.

Part of our duty as educators is to promote students becoming active members of our
democracy, which is most evident by participating in the voting process. We strongly encourage all of our community to vote in this year’s election, to discuss issues with your students as appropriate, and promote the rights and responsibilities of citizenship.

SCHEDULE FOR TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 6th
Many Douglas County Schools do not have school on Tuesday. However, Tuesday, November 6th is a regular school day at Global Village Academy- Douglas County. We look forward to seeing you all at 8:00 am!

NEW SCANNER IN THE CAFETERIA
The cafeteria has implemented a new scanner that will use the barcode on student IDs to process lunch payments! This may prove especially helpful for our younger students and those who cannot remember their student number.

GVA-DC FEATURED IN THE CULTURAL SERVICES FRENCH EMBASSY NEWLETTER

The Educational Affairs Department of the French Embassy and Kids Trail are proud to present author-illustrator Sandra Lanilis's expansive US tour! Sandra and her editor, Marie de Crécy, will conduct workshops for pupils of French Dual Language Programs, presenting her published titles and leading students in creative activities. Sandra and Marie visited Global Village Academy school in Denver, Colorado on October 26 and Franklin Magnet School in Los Angeles, California on October 29. The students were delighted to create their own books.
