GVA Colorado Springs 4th-Graders Learn About Lacrosse & Native American Culture.

Two residents of the Colorado Springs community, Ira Huff & Thomas Muldoon, shared about the life and culture of the Haudenosaunee. Ira grew up on a reservation and is the son of a chief. Thomas is the Lacrosse Assistant Coach at Colorado College.

Lacrosse is a sport deeply rooted in the Haudenosaunee's ancient culture. The men did a lacrosse demonstration, giving the students a chance to play and learn some lacrosse techniques. Coach Muldoon also runs a camp in Colorado Springs called Earth Lacrosse which teaches children the sport of Lacrosse.  Earth Lacrosse also has a Native American outreach component.  You can learn more about the outreach on their website at http://www.earthlacrosse.com

The Colorado Springs newspaper, The Gazette, came to Global Village Academy CS  and did a feature article on the experience. You can read the article here.
