Check out the beautiful oil Pastel and watercolor turkeys for Thanksgiving! This time we learned about Germany and the painter Gabrielle Munter and her wintery scenes of Germany. Third grades made a mural of her Cabin in the Woods. Students were inspired by markt lebkuchenherzen (traditional German heart cookies), tannenbaum (Christmas trees), Marzipan Glückschwein (Lucky Pigs), Sankt Nikolaus and the international display was set up in a style reminiscent of a Christmas market or Weihnachtsmärkte. Sixth graders created working cardboard cuckoo clocks!!! Thank you Jerry Silverhart Farmers Insurance for the monthly teacher grant which purchased the clockworks and wooden hearts for the cookies.
