Amber Sheeran, a music teacher at GVA Aurora, was commissioned to compose Of Love and Delight, a tribute honoring the legacy of Jean Newman and her lifelong support of women leaders in music. The piece will be performed by musicians from across the country at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House, celebrating both Sheeran’s artistry and the passion for music she brings to her students every day.

K-12 students are invited to design and build a paper-and-tape ball run that keeps a ball moving for as long as possible. Submissions are due by March 31st.

Students in grades 6–8 are invited to write a short essay about an issue or opportunity in their community and propose a solution. Entries are open through February 3, 2026.
